Rockliffe Press Release

Rockliffe MailSite Turns Six

Rock-solid Rockliffe proves that it can stay the course

Campbell, California, October 17, 2002 - Rockliffe, Inc., a leading developer of email and messaging software for service providers, enterprise and organizations, today proudly announced the sixth birthday of MailSite.

Rockliffe shipped MailSite to its first customer, SDForum, on September 17th 1996. Six years later, SDForum is still using MailSite to deliver rock-solid email services to its employees and customers.

Rockliffe and MailSite, Rockliffe's flagship product, have stood for rock-solid reliability since day one. MailSite began as a solution for small companies and small ISPs that wanted an Internet standards-based email server that was low cost, easy to install and manage, and ran on the Windows operating system rather than UNIX. Since 1996 Rockliffe has worked hard to extended the capability and functionality of MailSite to meet the demands of its growing customer base, yet at the same time retaining the rock-solid reliability, ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness of the product when compared to UNIX alternatives. Today, Rockliffe MailSite is used by several thousand organizations and is far more than just an email server - amongst other things it now includes anti spam, anti virus, web messaging, wireless email and personal web calendaring.

Rockliffe also offers a large scale version of MailSite, called MailSite SP, designed for large service providers and telecommunication companies that host email and messaging for hundreds of thousands to millions of subscribers on a fault-tolerant cluster of Windows 2000 servers.

"We were searching for an email infrastructure that could grow with us. Six years ago, MailSite was a new product and the company appeared to be in it for the long term," said Fernando Silva, Technical Director of SDForum. "We have stayed with MailSite because Rockliffe has provided excellent customer service and has consistently delivered new product releases. Rockliffe has developed an excellent product that is very easy to manage and has given us a good ROI".

"In 1996 the only products available for Internet email ran on UNIX. These products were too complex for most small companies and ISPs," said John Davies, founder, president and CEO of Rockliffe. "We were one of the first companies to offer a standards-based email server on the Windows platform. We have successfully built our business on our ability to continue to deliver email products that meet the needs of the market. Our loyal and rapidly expanding customer base is testimony to that success."
